Sta-Tite™ Fastening System

Sta-Tite™ Locking-Thread Fasteners

Sta-Tite™ Locking-Thread Bolt & Self-Tensioning Nut
The new alternative to swage and break-off systems

• provides exceptional vibration resistence
• provides consistant torque tension control
• used on common frame fastener applications
used on highly stressed joints

Fleet operators and vehicle OEMs were asked what they most wanted a frame-fastening system to do. The answer was unanimous, “Stay tight, and be easy to remove without special tools.” Taking that as a directive, MVS has developed, tested and introduced the Sta-Tite™ Fastening System for commercial vehicle applications.

The Sta-Tite™ fastening system employs our Lock Thread™ bolt coupled with a proprietary self-tensioning nut. The results are clamping forces and clamp retention comparable to or better than those associated with traditional “swage and break-off” systems that are currently used by OEMs and Tier builders.

Conventional Tools Disassemble and Reassemble the Joint

Fleets and independent maintenance facilities frequently resort to torching off frame fasteners applied with “swage-type” factory equipment. The specialized removal tools and tool maintenance requirements for those systems are quite costly, and generally out of reach of fleets and independent repair shops.

Lock Thread™
Studs, Bolts, and Inserts

Lock Thread™
A uniquely-threaded bolt for use on manifolds, exhaust systems and other areas affected by heat and vibration.

• Features a unique, trilobular self-locking thread design
Combats back-off even under heat and vibration
Can be removed and reused
• Produces uniform clamping loads
• Works well in all metals
• High temp alloys meet stringent EPA requirements
• High temp alloys withstand temperatures of more than 600º C

Heat and vibration are the greatest enemies of fastened joints, leading to loss of clamp force typically blamed on “nut or bolt back-off.”

Tests have shown the Lock Thread™ bolt provides exceptional vibration resistance and consistent torque tension control, making it ideal for common use on commercial vehicle frame fastener applications and highly stressed joints.

Since its launch, more than 600 million Lock Thread™ units have been sold into the transportation market place, including major commercial vehicle customers. There have been no reported failures.

Sizes are available up to M16 with length up to 100 millimeters long. Larger sizes will be supported as markets develop.
